Two Thai hotels in the running for global award

AHEAD celebrates the most outstanding new hospitality projects in each region.

Hotels in Chiang Mai and Phuket are in the running for a new global award, AHEAD (Awards for Hospitality, Experience and Design), which celebrates the most outstanding new hospitality projects in each region.

Shortlisted for the Guestrooms category is Akyra Manor Hotel, Chiang Mai, which judges praised for its “clean lines, urban feel and interesting use of FF&E [furniture, fixtures and equipment] to deliver a unique indoor/outdoor guest experience.”

Also nominated among the seven finalists for the Landscaping & Outdoor Spaces category is Keemala in Phuket, whose "respectful and restrained" landscaping is adjudged to have created a truly memorable experience for guests thanks to "the natural way it integrates into its environment, with guestrooms nestled into the jungle surroundings."

Launched by design publication Sleeper, AHEAD replaces the European Hotel Design Awards and the Asia Hotel Design Awards.

AHEAD Global 2019 is the culmination of a cycle of eight regional events which have taken place in Asia, the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Africa throughout 2017-2018.

The winners will be announced on Jan 28 with simultaneous ceremonies in London and New York, decided by aggregation of the public and judges votes. Public voting will close on Jan 23.
